Maize meal is the staple food in Zimbabwe, like rice in other parts of the world. It is made into sadza (cooked maize meal), often eaten with greens & or meat for those that are lucky  enough to afford it. People are surviving on just this one meal a day. Many of the orphans and vulnerable children we support do not even have this.

Our project hires an acre field, cultivates it and sows maize. The crop it produces will feed two families of 6 for a whole year and there would even be enough left over to sell. The families will be involved in the project, helping throughout the process including harvesting.

The project costs £150($200) per acre. So that’s feeding 2 families of 6 for a year for just £150($200).
