Community Training Centre

Our charity has recently been fortunate to purchase 10 acres of land with buildings, very close to our current centre in Sanyati, Zimbabwe.  Our vision, is to turn this into a community training hub, offering trainings to the local community in conjunction with other community and entrepreneurial projects.

Areas of training would include:

  • Regenerative farming practices, subsistence farming and better methods of environment friendly farming practices, working with the principles of Foundations for Farming.
  • Income generating small scale farming projects, i.e. poultry, pig, dairy, bee keeping, goat, rabbit and fish farming.
  • Tree planting, importance and benefits of trees to our environment and ultimately our lives. Promote a cut one, plant two mentality.

Community Projects:

  • Disability sewing group – we already have 7 sewing machines for use by the group, so they can earn an income making and selling items including much needed reusable sanitary pads.
  • We would also like to open up the centre to train the community, especially orphans, vulnerable children/young people and woman, in farming projects such as chicken, goat, vegetable gardening etc. To give them practical skills for their future.  Many young people are coming out of school with no qualifications or options.  If we can train them and set them up with projects, it will help alleviate the problems of child marriages, sexual abuse, drug & substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and suicide. Of which many end up doing, having no other options available.

On the same land, via our Trees for Life campaign, we plan to plant an acre of 500 trees, including indigenous trees. Which is of course good for the environment, bees and other insects, while providing homes and shelter for other animals.
